all meds did for me was destroy my sex drive...i am now officially an asexual unic, it didnt help my anxiety but it sure killed my sex drive dead and if one more person gives me this "theres more to life than sex" shit im goanna pull my fucking hair out.thats the same as saying its ok to go to ones grave never experiencing sex, love, or anything of the sort. i am so starved for female attention every time i see an attractive girl it makes me want to kill myself, but i cant approach them.

Agreed, those meds have a lot of bad side affects over time is what i heard, including sexual disfuction. Plus your really not yourself, your meds are talking, you want people to like you for you not some robot.

I think medication should be only a short term thing. When you just can't function but crave a normal life, then you need a kick-start, because even CBT might freak you out. When you start feeling a bit better, then start practising changing your thinking, and then wean yourself off the meds. That route helped me.

To tell you the truth, it's a lot better than before but not for the right reasons. I haven't seeked therapy I believe my Doc has it aswell so it's kinda awkward, sametime it makes me feel weak, but if I can't help myself than what else am I suppose to do, but having it for so long can become tiresome and possibly lead to secondary effects like depression, abnormal thinking, paranoia etc. I like the fact you question these things makes me do the same.

True my opinions the same, you can't block out negative feelings cause they are you and you feel that way but the only way is to solve the problem or whatevers bugging you, too bad that's almost impossible

I agree... avoid medication if you can, but like you say if that's the only way to move forward then so be it. I had success with Paxil for a little while (4th SSRI prescribed)... but the side effects were not worth it. I find that exercise and a careful diet does as much for me as the medication did... actually, eating well makes a HUGE difference. |
